14 year old shot 'several times'

A 14 year old has been injured in a shooting incident in Cork city today

RTE News says although the boy sustained a number of pellet wounds to his back and side, he was not seriously injured.

The teenager was with two others standing outside a house at the top of Farran Street, when a gunman pulled up in a car at the entrance to the street and fired one blast from a shotgun.

Witnesses say the gunman took off in a black Mondeo Cork registered car, which has since been found abandoned on the outskirts of the city at Watergrasshill.

Investigating gardaí at Mayfield confirmed that there has been a number of incidents on the street in recent weeks but were satisfied that there was no intent to kill, but just to scare the teenagers.

A Red FM reporter spoke to The NewsWire and he says there are even unconfirmed reports the incident may be linked to feuding in Limerick.
