Huge fire at Istanbul airport

Turkish television showed huge plumes of black smoke rising above the airport that serves Turkey's largest city and firemen battling the fire.

Fire engines and ambulances rushed to the scene of the fire where huge plumes of black smoke billowed up from the airport which serves Turkey's largest city. Planes normally used for water bombing forest fires swooped down to douse the flames.
Private NTV television said some cargo workers may have been trapped inside the two-story cargo building, which is used to store international cargo arriving in Istanbul.

The building was located close to a hangar housing military aircraft.
