A man is in critical condition in hospital after he was the victim of a brutal assault in Limerick city centre Friday night.
The incident happened around 6.30pm when a man in his 20’s was reportedly attacked by two men on Michael Street.
The victim was rushed to the Mid Western Regional hospital and has since been transferred to Cork University Hospital where he is described as being in a critical but stable condition. Radio reports say the victim, who is from the south side of the city has undergone emergency surgery.
An area off Michael Street near St. Michaels Court was sealed off overnight for a technical examination to be carried out.
Gardai at Henry Street are not ruling out the possibility the attack was feud related and have appealed for anyone who was in the area and may have seen anything to contact them.
