Massive oil spill on the N69 Foynes Road

County Limerick Fire services and County Council workers are at the scene of a major oil spillage on the N69.

The oil spill is believed to be stretching for over 20km from the village of Kildimo to Foynes and is affecting the outgoing lane leaving Kildimo. Units of Foynes and Rathkeale fire services are dealing with the spillage which was reported to Gardai around 9am this morning.

The road remains open however Gardai are advising all road users to avoid the N69 from Foynes to Kildimo.
