Heavy snow in Limerick overnight

There was travel chaos in Limerick this morning as heavy snow fell overnight.

4 inches of snow has been recorded in parts of the city and county and delays are evident all over the city as people endure the morning rush hour commute. As the snow melts somewhat in the city centre, heavy blankets of the white stuff are reported in the suburbs and the county.

Weather Advisory
Very cold overnight and at first on Wednesday with a widespread frost and some icy patches.
Wintry showers also, with hail, sleet and snow in places.

Very slippery road conditions reported on the N21 in Abbeyfeale.

::It's particularly slippery around Lough Gur and towards Bruff and at Ballingarry, according to the AA. The Ennis Road in particular is reported to be in chaos.

::The Rathkeale to Ballingarry Rd (R518) is treacherous and Gardai are advising motorists to avoid it.

School closures for March 4th
There are reported school closures, we have only heard of the following confirmed,

Kilanor national school in Boher
John the Baptist school in Hospital.
Scoil Mocheallég in Kilmallock
Colaiste Iosaef, Kilmallock

There are also schools closed in Pallasgreen. Parents are advised to check with your school before setting off.
