Seven injured after Co.Limerick RTA


There has been a six car pile-up on the N24 near palasgreen in Co.Limerick.The road has now reopened and all of the people injured in the crash have been taken to Limerick Regional Hospital.

The accident happened around 9.30am this morning when a steam roller which was being trasported on a lorry detatched and rolled over landing on a car coming in the other direction.This caused the pile up.A major emergency plan was implemented and up to 6 ambulances,5 units of fire brigade and gardai all responded to the scene.

initially 4 people were trapped in there cars when the emergency services arrived and were freed after an hour.The scene has now been cleared of casualties.

AA roadwatch had asked people to avoid the area.

The NewsWire can confirm that a 28 year old backseat passenger in one of the cars was not wearing his seatbelt and is suffering from head injuries.

It had been requested that all non emergency patients in Limerick Regional Hospital A&E be moved to St Johns to allow RGH to handle the influx.

The Garda Chopper also responded to the scene.
