Limerick teen seriously injured in Kilkee diving accident

A Limerick teenager has been airlifted to hospital following an accident while swimming this evening.

The 17 year old sustained serious injuries after striking his head off rocks while diving in Kilkee, Co. Clare. He is reported to have sustained head, neck and back injuries.

The incident occurred at the well known Pollock Holes area of the coastal town at around 5.30pm.

The victim was rescued from the water by members of Kilkee Marine Rescue Service and was flown directly to Cork University Hospital.

The teenager has since been released from hospital.
