Prisoner died from unusual medical condition
In a follow up on the death of prisoner Kenneth Kelly who died at the weekend, it has now been confirmed that his death was in no way related to drugs.
The 20 year old who was in prison for offences including theft and handling stolen property became ill on Monday morning and an ambulance was called but he was pronounced dead in the ambulance shortly after.
According to State Pathologist Mairie Cassidy who performed the autopsy on the man, he died from an unusual medical condition.
Mr Kelly had previously made allegations that prison officers had smuggled drugs into the prison, which the limerick leader printed on Monday of this week.
