Fire Service’s Swift Water Rescue unit saves man from Shannon

Limerick Fire brigade’s Swift Water rescue unit has to praised again following another rescue form the Shannon River.

Around 3.30am Saturday Morning a man entered the river near howleys quay. Immediately members of the Marine Search and rescue, Limerick Fire brigade, Gardai and Ambulance personnel attended the scene.

They pulled him from the water at the Westfield bank across from the Clarion Hotel. The man in his twenties was taken to the Mid western regional Hospital suffering form hypothermia. He was in the water for up to 15 minutes.
