City employee dies while digging grave


A cemetery worker has died while digging a grave at a city graveyard this morning.

It’s understood 51-year-old Martin Duhig was working at a grave site at Mount Saint Olivers when he fell awkwardly at around 9am. He sustained major head injuries.

He was taken to St. Johns Hospital by ambulance however he died a short time later. Radio reports say the man, who worked for the parks department is a well known member of his community in the Kings island.

Limerick City Council and Gardai have launched an investigation into the accident.
