Garda appeal after serious city assault

A woman is still recovering in hospital this morning after she suffered a horrific attack late Sunday night.

The 25-year-old was walking home around 3.30am when was pulled down a laneway off Mallow Street by a man and suffered a severe beating.The woman managed to fend off her attacker and escape on foot where she contacted Gardai immediately.

Gardai said yesterday that the woman was not sexually assaulted but say it may have been the motive for the attack.

Gardai have again appealed for information at 061 212400 to catch this man.
