Terry Wogan honoured in Limerick

"What Limerick man would not be honoured to receive such an award from a proud and historic city. I spent the first 15 years of my life here. Limerick made me."

Limerick born broadcaster Terry Wogan has been given a lifetime achievement award at the "Limerick Person of the Year Awards” last night at the Clarion Hotel.

Speaking while presenting the award, Taoiseach Bertie Ahern said,
"I know the people of Limerick, as well as people all over Ireland, will want to thank you for the hours of entertainment you have provided over the years to millions on both sides of the Irish Sea.

While there have been many highlights in your lifetime, I am sure, some of the more memorable ones will include your honorary OBE award in 1997 in the New Year's Honours List along with your honorary knighthood in June 2005”
He was presented with a special souvenir book of photographs of Limerick featuring personal pictures and other famous people who have visited the city.
