Operation Platinum: Gardai to keep seized cash

Gardai were given permission at Limerick District Court today to hold onto the money they seized in yesterdays raids.

Gardai made 12 separate applications to the court today to retain the money which was confiscated during the 250 man Operation Platinum yesterday. Reports day some of the money recovered was found in bedrooms, cupboards and even an extractor fan.

At the hearing it was alleged that the owners of the different sums of money were “directly linked” to criminals in the city.

Around €250,000 in total was seized from houses around the city.
