17 year old held following gun find

A 17 year old male is being detained at Henry Street Garda station this morning in relation to the discovery of a weapon and ammunition Tuesday night.

The young man was arrested after the discovery of what Gardai say was a “home made” and improvised handgun along with four rounds of ammunition during a planned search in the Garryowen area.

He is being held under Section 30 of the Offences against the State Act.
