County Gardai look into reported abduction
Gardai are investigating a reported incident in which a man was abducted from his house and forced to set his own car on fire.
He is being treated at Cork University Hospital however his injuries are not believed to be life threatening. The car was reported to be worth €60,000.
The incident happened Wednesday night as the victim was at his home. The victim claimed he was forced at gunpoint by another man from his home in Abbeyfeale, Co Limerick, shortly after 2am on Wednesday.The victim, publican Stephen Geoghegan, runs the 'Cellar bar' in Abbeyfeale. Gardai are trying to establish a motive for the attack and why he was forced to set fire to his 08 registered Audi A5 Coupe.
He said he was then made drive his car across the Co Kerry border to a remote location near Lyracrompane and set fire to his car.Despite suffering burn injuries in the incident, the man managed to walk to a nearby house and raise the alarm.
