Adare boil water alert lifted

A water boil notice issued to residents in Adare and its surrounding areas has been lifted, the Limerick County Council has said tonight.

The notice had been in place since last Friday after concerns the efficiency at the towns water treatment plant had been reduced allowing for “an increased possibility of bacteria getting through the system”.

Testing by the local authority has concluded that the water being produced is now meeting the drinking water standards.

Over 2,000 people were affected by the water alert in the following areas,
Adare, Tuogh, Kilknockan, Curraghbeg, Copay, Blackabbey, Gortaganniff, Graigue, Drehidtarsna, Boulabally, Beabus, Baurnalicka, Derryvinnane, Castleroberts, Lissaleen, Cloonaduff, Kilgobbin, Mondellihy, Rineroe, Knockanes and Caherass.
