Justice Minister and Garda head visit Limerick today

The head of the Gardai and the Minister for Justice are due back in Limerick again today for updates on a number of issues.

Its expected Minister Dermot Ahern and Garda Commissioner Fachtna Murphy will be briefed in relation to ongoing gangland crime investigations including the murder of Shane Geoghegan last month.

Since their last visit, Gardai have carried out over 55 raids on the Southside of the city seizing pistols, rifles, shotguns, ammunition and thousands of euro worth of drugs including cannabis and cocaine.

Mr. Ahern will also receive an update on the Regeneration activities by CEO Brendan Kenny.

The Garda commissioner last visited Limerick in the days following the murder of 28 year old Shane Geoghegan in Kilteragh on November 8th.

Mr. Geoghegan was visiting friends in the Clonmore estate to watch the Ireland vs Canada rugby match and was gunned down during his short walk home.
