Families still without homes after Limerick floods

"Abandoned by the inept bunglers calling themselves a government"
With only 3 weeks left until Christmas it’s being reported that at least 10 families are still waiting to return to their homes following the Newcastle West flooding which occurred 4 months ago.

The families all living in the Newcastle West area have been living in temporary accommodation since the devastating flooding events of the summer.

A public meeting will be held this evening at the Ballintemple Inn to allow the affected local residents voice their concerns on aspects including the lack of Government support financially, in the wake of the flooding.

Last week it was reported that no state aid has been paid out to relieve the victims of the floods, 4 months on.

Its expected management from Limerick County Council along with local councillors will be in attendance tonight.

A month's worth of rain fell in just five hour on July 31st causing the River Arra to burst its banks for the first time in living memory. Millions of euro worth of damage was caused in the Newcastle West region and homes, cars and businesses were destroyed.

The meeting begins at 8pm tonight.
