Man held in assault investigation
A man has been arrested in relation to a serious assault in the city center on Friday night which left a 22 year old fighting for his life at Cork University Hospital.
Gardai detained a man in his 20’s around 11am this morning in the city centre and he was taken to Henry Street Garda station for questioning. He can be held for up to 24 hours before he must be charged or released.
Meanwhile officials at Cork University Hospital have said the victim of Friday night attack remains in a stable condition in intensive care.
Gardai believe two men carried out the attack which took place on Michael Street around 6.30pm.
