Man jailed for 1991 fatal assault
A Co. Louth man who was on the run for 17 years has been jailed this evening for an assault which caused the death of a Limerick man in 1991.
40 year old Greg Conway from Dundalk in Co Louth had pleaded guilty earlier today to unlawfully wounding Denis Quinlivan Keyes Park in Southill, on the 3rd of September 1991.
Mr Conway was eventually arrested in 2006 on foot of a bench warrant which was issued on 15 June 1992. The court was told how he had kicked and beaten Quinlivan and also hit him with a rock during the brutal assault. The victim died from his injuries in hospital a few months later.
Conway was due to stand trial for the assault in June 1992 but he failed to turn up in court and had fled to England.
