Blaze at Kincora apartment block in Shannon

The Clare fire service has extinguished a large fire at the Kincora apartments in Shannon town.

The blaze broke out around 7.00pm this evening and thick black smoke could be seen for miles around.

Gardai were quickly on the scene and evacuated the building while the fire which was in the center of the building was dealt with.

One unconfirmed report suggested an oil tank on the roof of the building was the source of the blaze.

Nobody was seriously injured in the blaze.

The Kincora Apartment block consists of 40 apartments and commercial offices.
