McCabe family overjoyed at new addition

The McCabe family have welcomed a new addition to their family exactly 10 years after Family member Jerry McCabe was gunned down in Adare.

John McCabe son of the fallen Garda has become a father after his wife Sheila gave birth to their first child on Wednesday it has been announced.

The sister in law of Jerry McCabe said yesterday,

It’s absolutely amazing that she was born on the on the anniversary of her grandfathers death. God works in mysterious ways. He takes away one life so brutally and brings another gently into the world.

Mum, dad and baby girl are all doing well according to the Limerick Leader.

Special Branch colleagues of Jerry McCabe laid flowers at his grave in Mount St Oliver cemetery on Wednesday and there was also a commemorative ceremony at the bust of Det Garda McCabe which was erected in Henry Street garda headquarters
