Rally being held outside city hall

A rally is being held at Limerick city Hall Friday over the release of Mr. A. by the High court. Justice Mary Laffoy said his detention had been rendered unlawful by last week's Supreme Court decision striking down the law on statutory rape.

The rally is being held at 3pm tomorrow on Merchants Quay and is expected to have a massive turnout. Those who can't attend the rally due to work are asked to stop working for one minute at that time as a show of solidarity.

One of the organizers of the rally , Majella Ryan of CARI in Limerick said,

We would be really anxious that as many people as possible would turn up to show their support for the children of Ireland. I think it’s really important that we send out a clear message that protecting the children of Ireland is a priority.

Mr A was serving a three-year sentence for the unlawful carnal knowledge of a 12-year-old girl when he was released.
