Limerick teens lead Gardai on high speed chase in Clare


A 16 year old Limerick teenager has appeared at a sitting of Ennis district court today charged in connection with a high speed car chase through Ennis town centre Monday night.

Special Branch Gardai were dispatched to the Carphone warehouse in Ennis town centre last night after receiving reports that three teenagers had stolen a mobile phone form the shop. When Gardai arrived, a high speed chase ensued.

Reports say the young driver careered down one way streets, damaging a number of cars before being rammed off the road by a Garda car.

All three were arrested, two teenagers from Southill and one from Weston however the two from Southill were released today without charge.

The third youth , who appeared in court today, was charged with dangerous driving and the theft of a mobile phone.
