Lower Mallow Street reopens after safety scare.

Traffic restrictions are beginning to ease this morning following the reopening of Lower Mallow Street.

The street was closed yesterday evening and through the night after panels of cladding became loose high up on the river point building. Gardai took the precautionary measure of closing the street along with howleys Quay in fear the cladding would fall in the high wind.

Limerick Blogger has more on the closures,

Lower Mallow Street and Howleys Quay were immediately closed, and motorists were advised to avoid Henry Street, O'Connell Street, Mallow Street, Condell Road and the southern quays. All traffic lights in the City Centre were flashing amber while these roads were closed.
Contractors carried out work through the night to secure the panels and the road was reopened this morning. AA Roadwatch now reports that traffic is moving well in the city centre.
