Man further remanded over death threats


A man who made threats against a woman just hours after his brother was shot dead has been remanded in custody yet again at a hearing today.

Paul Crawford with an address in Southill is charged with threatening to kill Elizabeth Sparling in O'Malley Park on December 18th, the same night as his brother Noel was shot dead.

Addressing the court this morning Defence solicitor Ted McCarthy asked that the charge against his client be dealt with expeditiously given that it is alleged to have taken place just hours after his brother died in tragic circumstances.

Inspector Pat Conlan told the court that the state was still awaiting instructions from the DPP in the matter.Judge Tom O'Donnell requested that Mr McCarthy's comments be noted.
Mr. Crawford was further remanded in state custody to appear again before the same court on January 18th.
