96-year-old killed in house fire

A 96 year old woman has died after a house fire in the county last night

Reports say the fire started in an upstairs bedroom of the house in the village of Kilfinane around 7pm.The body of the woman was found by her son.

A Garda forensics team attended the scene last night however the house was not badly damaged in the incident. Gardai have described it as a tragic accident.

RTE reports there was an open fire in the upstairs bedroom at the time.
