Man sentenced for spitting at Garda
A man who spat a Garda while she was sitting in a patrol car was jailed yesterday.
Shane Kelly, from Oliver Plunkett Street, pleaded guilty to the assault as the court was told how the 20-year-old spat at a female Garda who was sitting in the front passenger seat of a Garda car which was on routine patrol around St Mary’s Park last July.
The court was told that the brother of the accused, Kenneth Kelly, had died in ‘strange circumstances’ in Limerick prison last May and that Shane was so distraught he developed an alcohol addiction.
Judge Tom O Donnell said the mans actions were "disgraceful” as he sentenced him to 4 months in jail.
