Man injured in Garryowen knife attack

A man was due before a special sitting of Limerick district court Saturday charged in relation to a serious assault in the city.

A man, believed to be in his 30’s, received serious injuries to his ear following a knife attack at a house on Downey Street in the Garryowen area of the city around 10.15pm Friday night. Gardai who arrived at the scene arrested one man.

The injured man was taken to the mid western regional hospital and is recovering from his injuries.

22 year old Ian Butler with an address at Downey Street, Garryowen has been released on bail following the incident last night.
