Garda undergoes surgery after city center attack
A Weston man has been charged with assault causing harm after he bit off a piece of a Garda’s ear in a savage attack over the weekend.
Its understood two Gardai were responding to an incident at a fast food restaurant on O Connell street around 11.15pm in the city when they came under attack. Both Gardai were hospitalised following the incident.
One Garda sustained facial bruising and required 10 stitches while the other has undergone surgery after he had a part of his ear bitten off.
31 year old Gary Culhane with an address on Hyde Avenue in Ballinacurra Weston was charged with the attack and at a special sitting of Limerick district court yesterday was remanded in custody until Wednesday.
