Gardai investigate death of man in Weston

Gardai at Roxboro have confirmed Sunday they are investigating the death of a man in Weston over the weekend.

Gardai and ambulance services responded Friday night to reports of a serious assault on a 39 year old man at his home in Weston. The victim was immediately rushed to the Mid-Western regional hospital however is it being reported he died just 24 hours later from injuries he sustained in the attack.

A post mortem carried out by state pathologist Dr. Marie Cassidy confirmed Sunday that the man had died from injuries consistent with an assault.

The Limerick Leader reminds us this incident is not believed to be feud related.

The deceased has been named as Mike Molloy from Garryglass Avenue, Ballinacurra Weston.
Gardai believe that Mr Molloy sustained the injuries after being attacked in a car by two men outside his home. Officers think he may have refused to get out of the car and the men then turned on him.
