Glenthworth St. TSB to move to new Dooradoyle location

The prominent TSB bank on Glenthworth Street is to close its doors for the last time this September the bank has announced.

Speaking to the Limerick Leader tonight Des Moore, Manager of the Western region of TSB said

“While we are sad to be leaving Glenthworth Street after our long associationwith the premises, we are delighted to be investing in the vibrant suburb of Dooradoyle”

He added that there is better business potential in the new Dooradoyle development than at Glenthworth Street.

The famous Neo-classical building referred to by locals as the “Stone Jug” or “The bank with no windows” was commissioned in 1939 from WH Owen.

The new development in Dooradoyle is located at crescent court on St. Nessan’s road. Grainne Walsh will manage the new premises. The bank has yet to decide on whether it will sell the current building or not.
