Limerick man gets 11 years for rape
A Limerick man is behind bars today after he pleaded guilty to aggravated sexual assault and assault causing harm to a woman in Galway back in 2004.
43-year-old Edward Casey from O’Malley Park was sentenced yesterday to 11 years jail. Giving evidence during the case, Det Sgt Michael Coppinger told how DNA matches from blood on the suspects discarded clothes and sperm recovered from the victim led to the conviction of Mr Casey.
Also speaking during the case, the victim a 23-year-old woman said;
She also added that her life has been a living hell for her and her family – a life of fear, hurt, humiliation, anger and distrust.
Mr Justice Carney certified Mr. Casey for registration as a sex offender.

“Not only was I denied my human rights but I was violated both mentally and physically and left with permanent scars that will affect my life forever."
