Joe Young hits out at station closure

Local Limerick priest Fr. Joe Young has spoken of is upset at the loss of Radio Limerick One today.

Speaking in an interview, Joe Young condemned the closure of a service he says has been an important lifeline for so many people.

“This radio station has been an important lifeline for so many people who don’t even get a chance to go outside their front doors.

It was a way of making a small difference to elderly people, people suffering from depression, people with anxieties. I went on this radio station just to try and make people feel they were special.

I am really very, very upset."
The pirate station was closed down last Wednesday in a joint ComReg Garda raid on its broadcasting centre in William Street.
