Riverfest '08 gets underway in the city

The annual Limerick Riverfest will get underway this weekend. The festival will run from today until late Monday evening. Officials have confirmed that there will be no fireworks display at this year’s event however stress there is a plethora of events for all the family to enjoy,

“This year's expanded festival programme sees the return of the established favourites such as the River Shannon-igans, River Feast International BBQ Competition, the European Market, Riverfest Global Beats and the River Fringe Arts Trail. Riverfest 2008 will celebrate Limerick's long fashion tradition with the Limerick International Fashion Experiment inviting Fashion Students from around Ireland and Europe to Limerick to compete with their fresh original designs for the Jim Kemmy Student Fashion Award. The Festival of Urban Sports Events will take to the streets of the city as Street Mountain Bike Racers, Skateboarders, Street Artists and much more come to Limerick to enthral festival goers with the best of Urban Sports players.”
