Two held after Gardai seize loaded pistol

Two men have been arrested following the discovery of a loaded gun in a stolen car Saturday night.

Gardai spotted the car which was reported stolen and stopped it on the Athlunkard Road in Corbally close to 2am.

After a search of the vehicle, Gardai, assisted by the Emergency Response Unit, recovered a loaded Glock pistol.

The two occupants of the car were arrested and are being held under section 30 of the offences against the state act.

The arrested are believed to be aged 20 and 23.
