Youth charged in Coleman murder investigation

Gardai have arrested and charged a 15 year old male this morning in relation to the murder of a man in Carew Park last year.

Pat “Happy” Coleman (seen right) died in the early hours of September 3rd 2007. The Kildare father of two was slashed in the neck at the hands of a teenager who used a broken bottle in what was described as a ‘sustained attack’.

Gardaí at the time believed the 33 year old who was working as a scaffolder, was assaulted as he returned to his home in Carew Park in which he had moved to, from Kildare, in 2006.

One month following the death, Gardai arrested six teenagers in relation to the murder however they were all released without charge.

The youth who was arrested and charged this morning is due before a Limerick court later today.
