Teenager in serious condition following crash

A teenage girl is in a very serious condition following a road traffic accident in Limerick overnight.

The 19 year old woman was injured after she crashed her car on the Bruff to Croom road around 3.30am last night.

Radio reports say the woman suffered major head injuries and is being treated at the Mid Western Regional Hospital. Gardai are investigating.

Local radio reports this evening that the young woman was due to collect her Leaving Certificate results today. She remains in a critical condition in hospital.

The woman has been named as Erin Whelan from Bruff.
