Emergency services deal with fire at Milford care center
Emergency services attended the scene of a fire at the Milford Care Centre in Castletroy this afternoon.
Firefighters responded to reports of a fire in a newly constructed section of the center which is next to the University of Limerick, around 11.45am.
It’s believed a fire which broke out on the roof of the premises was brought under control and extinguished.A partial evacuation of the center did take place and Live95 radio reported some patients required treatment for minor smoke inhalation. NewsWire understands at least 5 patients and 2 staff members were treated at the scene.
Fire units from Limerick city battled the blaze backed up by a unit from Cappamore.
Milford care center operates specialist in-patient and community based palliative care services for the region.
