Gardai investigate early morning shooting incident

Gardai are investigating an early morning shooting incident in Limerick City.

At least 12 shots were fired in the attack on a house on St Munchin's Street, St. Mary’s Park at around 5am this morning. Local radio reports say a woman and her children were in the house at the time though no one is believed to have been injured.

Gardai say a shotgun is believed to have been used in the attack. The scene has been sealed off pending a technical examination to be carried out later today.

NEW DETAILS
The distraught mother has been speaking to local radio about the attack,
“I was in bed with my 3 year old daughter and I heard all noises and next noises stopped and next I heard them again. So when I looked out, there was all glass everywhere and my children were screaming inside in the room”
She also described looking out her front window to see numerous spent shotgun cartridges at the front of her house.

Gardai have made no arrests in relation to the attack and a technical examination of the scene has been completed.
