Man receives 3 month sentence for failure to fulfil community service

A man who threatened a Garda while she was preserving the scene of an arson attack has been sentenced to 3 months in prison after he failed to carry out community service for the offence.

24 year old James Clancy from College Avenue, Moyross had previously been sentenced to 200 hours of community service stemming from the incident in Castleconnell last February in which he approached the Garda and ‘became threatening and abusive toward her’ saying, “You’ll be on your own some night, you bitch”.

Limerick District Court heard today that the defendant had not carried out his 200 hours community service and in light of this; Judge Tom O’Donnell imposed a 3 month sentence on the man.
