Man taken to hospital following serious incident

A man has been rushed to a city hospital following a serious stabbing incident in the city today.

The incident allegedly happened on Nicholas Street around 4.15pm in which a man sustained injuries in an attack close to a pub on the street.

Local radio reports the injured man was taken to St. Johns Hospital where he is being treated for his injuries.

The area of the attack, considered a crime scene, has been sealed off as Gardai begin examinations of the scene.

Its reported the man sustained a neck wound in the attack however his injuries are not life threatening. No arrests have been made.

It comes as Gardai were still on site carrying out investigations at a different pub on the same street as previously reported today.
