Inert grenade causes scare

A replica grenade was thrown through a window of an elderly woman’s house on Cornmarket row early this morning.

The incident, possibly carried out to intimidate the occupant happened around 4.14am when the training grenade was thrown into the woman’s front room of her apartment.

Gardai first on scene immediately called for the Cork bomb squad as they feared the grenade was live.

Commenting after the incident a bomb squad spokesman said that the device was an "inert training grenade" that bore all the hallmarks of the real thing.

Has it got anything to do with the arms seizure last week?Well The limerick leader is reporting tonight that the elderly woman is the granny of members of a certain Weston gang.
