Three arrested after Garda raid


Three men have been arrested after a Garda raid on a house in the city earlier today.

Around 12pm today, five Garda cars pulled up outside the house on Edward street and armed Gardai emerged and entered the location.

The search is said to have lasted up to 30 minutes and concluded with the arrest two non-nationals and one Irish man.

It is understood that an amount of drugs and weaponry including a loaded automatic was found at the house.Gardai say a stolen car was also recovered.

The men arrested - an Egyptian, a Lebanese national and an Irish man - are all aged in their 20s and are being held at Henry Street Garda station under section 30 of the Offences Against The State Act.

Gardai confirmed that today's operation was part of their ongoing investigations into organized crime in the city.

The men can be held for a maximum of 72 hours.
