International gang has allligned itself with Limerick faction : Gardai

Two men charged after Gardai foiled an apparent assassination Wednesday have appeared in Court.

Ibrihme Hassan ,36 years old living in cellbridge, Co. Kildare was charged today with the possession of a Sphinx semi-automatic pistol (like this one) on Wednesday and also having possession of the bullets associated with that gun.

The bail hearing got underway today with Detective Sergeant Eamonn O` Neill claiming that the Egyptian national would not stand trial if let out on bail. He also revealed that Gardai now believe the man is allegedly part of an international gang which had aligned itself to one of the factions in the ongoing Limerick feud. The Irish examiner reports that this faction is the McCarthy Dundons.

A second man ,26 year old Matta Chahwan who is a Lebanese was granted bail by Judge Tom O Donnell. He is charged with the possession of a stolen car that same day.

The two men were arrested on Edward Street along with a Dublin man on Wednesday last when they were on their way to collect a murder weapon for a hit they were allegedly going to carry out.

Both men are due to appear again next Thursday.
