Three arrested were ‘suspected assassins’

The three men arrested yesterday in an armed garda swoop were suspected assassins on there way to carry out a gangland hit.

Gardai now believe that the three men were at the house on Edward Street yesterday lunchtime to pick up the potential murder weapon and may have been hired by a city gang to carry a hit.

A short time before the raid the three men were seen leaving the McCarthy Dundons house in Weston.

Shortly after the Edward street raid, Gardai searched a house in Weston and recovered a press for packaging cocaine.

These latest developments of hiring foreign hit men would be seen as worrying for Limerick Gardai who are constantly monitoring city gangs.

The three are still being held at Henry Street Garda Station.
