Plot to kill murder accused foiled by Gardai - Report
Gardai have foiled a plot to kill a murder accused in his prison cell, a national newspaper has reported.
The Daily Star tabloid reports officers learned of a plan to poison Stephen O Sullivan inside Limerick prison last week not long after he had been charged with murder.
The report details how ‘gangsters’ wanted to smuggle heroin spiked with poison into the jail and inject Mr. O Sullivan with it. The plan would have involved another criminal the jail to inject the accused.
Once the plot was discovered, Mr. O Sullivan was then moved to the midlands prison for his own safety.
He is charged with the murder of 40-year-old Mark Moloney at South Claughan Road in Garryowen in Limerick on April 5th.
