Jury sworn in for shooting trial

A Thomondgate man who is charged with possessing a firearm with intent to endanger life has appeared at a sitting of a Limerick court Tuesday.

20 year old Liam “Baby” Kelly of Distillery View, Thomondgate denies possessing a sawn-off shotgun with the intent to endanger life of another man in 2007.

As a jury of nine men and three woman were sworn in today at Limerick Circuit Court for a trial which will begin this evening, state prosecution alleged that Liam Kelly had shot 21 year old Westbury man Ian Brennan on St. Munchin’s Street St. Mary’s Park on the night of September 23rd 2007 and caused him “serious harm”.

The trail will last until the end of the week.
