Limerick Garda recruit receives medal honour

A Limerick born Garda recruit has been awarded a prestigious medal at the Garda Graduation Ceremony at the Garda Training College today.

Garda Deirdre O’Doherty a native of Moyross has been awarded the Gary Sheehan Memorial medal at the ceremony which saw 224 Gardai graduate in all. The medal commemorates a Recruit Garda, who was killed on duty in Ballinamore, Co. Leitrim, in December, 1983.

Following graduation it’s reported Garda O’Doherty will be attached to Ennis Garda Station.
